VMA-211 suffered a loss of 7% of the total Harrier fleet, loosing 8 of 10 jump jets to a Taliban attack on Camp Bastion in Lashkar Gah on the 14th of September, 2012, as well as LTCÂ Christopher Raible, the squadron commander. It is the worst losses the unit has suffered since Wake Island in World War II.
