“…not voting for Romney is a vote for Obama. It’s that simple…” Kurt Schlichter would have us believe that Mitt Romney, while not a perfect candidate, would stop our inevitable slide into collectivism and destruction. He could be right — the current administration certainly has no respect for rule of law, personal rights or initiative, lifestyle choice (other than abortion) or personal property. Romney, we are told, will protect those things. He tells us, “When freedom becomes inconvenient, Democrats drop it like it’s hot.”
He’s right. Here’s the problem with his argument: the Republicans, who brought us the drug and terror war, and who seem poised to continue trying to coerce the Middle East into modernity through perpetual conflict, are no better. A Republican co-wrote the First Amendment assaulting Incumbent Protection Campaign Finance Reform Act, as well as the onerous indefinite detention clause of the NDAA. They support the efforts to destroy internet commerce and fair use of digital products pushed by the MPAA and RIAA. They love throwing folks in jail for smoking a joint — it keeps the money flowing with the military-law enforcement-industrial complex.
He does have a good point, however, when he says “There are exactly zero “libertarian-liberals.” Nor can there be; Democrats embrace everything libertarians oppose.” But like all conservatives and Democrats he misuses the “liberal” label — Democrats are not liberals…they are Progressives. And so are the Republican leadership. They are a group of “elites” — educated experts who know better than you how you should live your lives, and who expect obedience and great wodges of your money in taxes and government fees so they can live very very well.
So let me respond to this useful idiot for the GOP aristocracy and speak to the disaffected Ron Paul voters: Do not vote for the lesser of two evils. “Waste” your vote on Governor Johnson. If enough of us do it, what could happen? (The worst thing for the Progressives of the Democrat and Republican parties…he could win.)
Perhaps this hyperventilating sycophant is right: if Obama wins, we will have chaos in the streets. Obama will try to rule, rather than reign, and try to install himself as president-for-life with all the attendent terrors. If this happens, 1) we will deserve it for having a majority vote for the man, and more importantly 2) the establishment has failed to correct guess why people are arming themselves to the teeth: they haven’t been pushed far enough yet, but if the aristocrats in DC push much farther they will find themselves with open rebellion.

Obama? Disastrous. Romney? The establishment wants this guy way to badly and are willing to cheat to get him. That suggests the same lack of regard for rule of law we’re already seeing with the current bunch.
How about a guy that did a fantastic job in my state, actually believes in leaving people the hell alone, and being a responsible steward of the People’s money?
For you Ron Paul people, this is the guy who represents you.

The establishment Republican cabal is a bit worried about Ron Paul, or so their message to the Nevada GOP might suggest: “In a letter delivered Wednesday to GOP Chairman Michael McDonald, the RNC’s chief counsel said if Ron Paul delegates are allowed to take too many slots for the national convention, Nevada’s entire contingent may not be seated in Tampa…” reports the Las Vegas Sun. Obviously, after having played fast and loose with the rules in Iowa and Maine, used legal flippery to shutout non-Romney candidates in Virginia, the national GOP is worried that delegates might not respect their heir presumptive and not vote for Romney on the first balloting in Tampa.
Paul’s campaign has been playing a strategy designed to collect unbound delegates, a move that could provide the congressman “[w]ith a plurality of delegates from five states, Paul supporters could nominate him from the convention floor…” A this time, Paul clinched 21 of 24 delegates in Maine, 10 of 28 in Iowa look to be Paul men, 22 of 25 slots in Nevada are Paul’s, he’s got three-quarters of Louisiana’s delegates.
Even with these numbers, which just might get him onto the floor at the convention, he’s unlikely to best Romney…so why are the delegates lining up for Paul? The GOP hierarchy and the press would have to think this was some kind of nefarious move by Paul, instead of what it is: a move by actual Republicans to wrest some control from the neo-conservatives (read, “right-leaning” big-government, mercantilist Progressives) that control the national mechanism of the party.
While the Karl Rove/Koch Brotehrs axis wants more of the same “compassionate conservatism”" that has meddled in the Middle East (ineffectually), borrowed and spent recklessly on domestic programs, written the guidelines for massive big business cronyism in the government (although this is nothing new, as Grover Cleveland complained), and an intrusive police state — all which have been exacerbated by an Obama administration — there is a core constituency of the party that want smaller, less intrusive government, and fiscal responsibility…in other words, libertarians.
Here’s hoping Paul gets to the stage at the convention and pitches his support to Jonhson/Gray. But Scott, won’t that mean four more years of Obama, if Paul supporters peel off and take votes away from Romney? Answer: Romney is four more years of Obama…just with better hair. You want change? You want to send a message? Give the White House to the libertarians. It’s not like they’ll get much done with a hostile Congress, and it will definitely send a message to the politicians.

RNC spokeswoman Alexandra Franceschi stated on a radio show that the Republican party’s economic platform in 2012 is going to be the same as it was during the Bush years, “just updated.” That’s great news for big-spending, big-government establishment wonks that want to waste our money as badly as their Democratic counterparts. (I’m willing to bet anyone money — and I’m a cheap-ass Scot — that the GOP tries to outdo the Dems on spending, if they get the White House. It’s this feeling I have.)
The Bush program, while not as rampantly undisciplined as the Obama administration, began our long slide from economic prosperity and freedom toward the corporatist police state we are now flirting with. But apparently outside of the RNC and the Republican patriarchy, the rank and file party members aren’t quite ready to concede to Obamney just yet…
In Minnesota, Representative Ron Paul captured half of the states delegates. That’s right, Rombots — there’s still a “not Romney” in the running, and he actually believes the small government mantra the GOP loves to sell.
As for the vice presidency, there’s been a lot of talk of Marco Rubio, who is playing coy, and Chris Christie — who would be undeniably entertaining in the role — but who is just another corporatist shill. The GOP establishment want Ohio senator Bob Portman — precisely because he is such a non-entity that he will do what he’s told and they desperately want to win Ohio. By continuing to ignore the wishes of their constituency and trying to continue the great government money train, the GOP is driving itself right off the cliff; fiscal conservatives will be just as turned off by this bunch of chaff being foisted on them.

The Pentagon is obviously worried about the notion that their massive cash and power infusion could come to a stop if Ron Paul were to be elected. The military is now warning not just serving military to avoid a February 20 rally in Washington DC — they are also “asking” retired and former servicemen to do the same.
Granted, the letter is specific that marching in uniform is not allowed, and that “…they do not otherwise act in a manner that could reasonably give rise to the inference or appearance of official sponsorship, approval, or endorsement…” I suspect the military is becoming worried about the mass of people they’ve trained with the notion that their duty is to protect the Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic…just might actually believe that idea. Considering the direction the government has been taking in relation to civil rights, the drug and terror wars, and the use of military force inside the United States, I can see why they’d be worried.

…but of course we’ll never know, since the slimeball in charge of the Maine Republican Party won’t release the final vote tally. Now why would he do that? That’s right, state party chairman Charles Webster — who has whined about receiving death threats — won’t release the results to avoid “conspiracy theories”…you got backward, Chuck, ol’ git.
To his credit, Paul isn’t demanding a recount or going to court like the spate of sore losers we’ve seen since Al “Waaaah!” Gore decided to bung up the electoral process in a vain attempt to secure his place in history as the first eyebrow-less president.
But it just puts another nail in the credibility of the GOP electoral process. The establishment want their guy…period. And I suspect they’re willing to lose the general election just to keep the massive money train that is the Obama administration running.
