After a decade of fighting the Taliban and al-Qaida in Afghanistan, and idiotic nation building that impoverishes the nation while enriching the contractors that service the mission (as is always the case in colonial endeavors) we come full circle:
“Afghanistan’s president on Tuesday endorsed a “code of conduct” issued by an influential council of clerics…which allows husbands to beat wives under certain circumstances and encourages segregation of the sexes, is seen as part of his outreach to insurgents like the Taliban.”
It also states, ”Women should not travel without a male guardian and women should not mingle with strange men in places like schools, markets or offices. Beating one’s wife is prohibited only if there is no “Shariah-compliant reason…”
So for all the money we’ve spend, all the blood the military has spilled…we have a corrupt opium-merchant regime that has returned the intransigent country to the 7th Century.
Yup…this was worth it.
