When Robert Small, 46, stood up to question the wisdom of the anointed school officials of the Baltimore school system in pursuing Common Core, he found himself manhandled by a security officer who was an off-duty police officer and arrested for second degree assault of a police officer and “disturbing a school operation.” Unfortunately for the BPD, the incident was caught by another at the meeting and it hit YouTube and the national news in hours.

Now, Small has been released and all charges have been dropped. State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger defended the arrest and resulting charges, as well as the behavior of the officer, but that’s pure crap: if the arrests had been justified, they would have pursued them. Instead, a bunch of thugs in the school district and police wanted to shut down dissent, got caught doing it, and had to retreat while maintaining face.
