Ah, Kuwait…home to Mubarak al-Bathali — a Muslim cleric who apparently doesn’t realize fake marriages on television aren’t real. This model of Islamic law and quality logical thought issued a hadith stating that actresses (note…not men) that portray their characters getting married, are actually married and guilty of sin. This mental giant with the undeveloped sense of humor and reality also found that making jokes about marriage, divorce, or “freeing a slave” (’cause it’s still the 6th Century in Kuwait) are serious issues, as well. Punishment is not mentioned here, but I’m sure that’s only an oversight because al-Bathali couldn’t figure out which backward-ass punishment would be overly-horrific enough for the “crime.”

And the brain trusts in Washington still think this is a culture that is moderate, modern, and reasonable…
