In light of the massive firearms sales over the last five years that completely destroy any argument that Americans want gun control, establishment hack Texas Senator John Cornyn did something surprising and introduced the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2014. The bill would treat concealed carry permits similar to drivers’ licenses, allowing permit holders to legally carry a concealed firearm between states without requiring a different permit for each state. Considering firearms owenership and carry is a constitutional, natural, individual right and driving is not (the first — freedom to travel, however, is), this should be a no-brainer.

As with driving, gun owners would still have to abide by the laws of the states they travel through — so, for instance, you would have to travel with 10-round magazines in California for your high-capacity firearm.

The bill is being co-sponsored by Senators Thune (R-SD), Vitter (R-LA), Graham (R-SC), Boozman (R-AR), Inhofe (R-OK), Crapo (R-ID), Burr (R-NC), Cochran (R-MS), Johanns (R-NE), Enzi (R-WY), Moran (R-KS), Roberts (R-KS), and Portman (R-OH).
