Tennessee’s Representative Jeremy Faison is looking to nullify federal law that outlaws the growing of hemp. HB1392, if passed, would place Tennessee with the likes of Colorado, Oregon, and Vermont, which have also nullified the federal prohibition on industrial hemp in the Controlled Substance Act of 1970.

Remember that hemp products — paper, clothing, etc. — are imported from China, India, and other countries perfectly legally…you just can’t grow it without DEA permission (which you can’t get.)

Just another way the War on drugs screws the American public. It’s also an example of the slow pushback against a bloated, overpowered federal government. We need more of this.
