Whole Foods’ John Mackay tells it like it is: Jealousy.

Envy has been the driving force of socialist and communist thought since before it had a name. Mackay’s assertion that intellectuals “have always sided with aristocrats” is often correct, but he misses the actual issue — they wish to be the aristocrats. They are fine with tearing down the group in power, but not the structures; they want to be the ones in charge, and are just as quick to use techniques they eschewed as evil or dangerous as their opponents once they have power.
